Ohmme – where indie rock meets art rock, enlivened by Macie and Sima’s unusual vocal stylings – I really enjoyed their set!It was a low key start with a couple of songs from the new album (Ode To Joy – not yet released) which I did not know But the two songs from the new album which I did know and were played tonight, ‘Love Is Everywhere (Beware)’ and ‘Everyone Hides’, are both classic Wilco songsThe set really got into its stride with the third song of the evening – ‘I am Trying To Break Your Heart’ from Yankee Hotel Foxtrot – liftoff!Jeff Tweedy – the band’s main man – he can sing, he can play guitar, he writes great songs, and he is a great producer (thank you for helping give Mavis Staples another lease on her musical life)The money for value long set ranges over most (all?) of their albums and showcases their wide ranging musical palette – soft indie ballads, alt country rock, more straightforward rock and even an experimental edge. And doesn’t the Barrowland’s ceiling look nice! One highlight tonight is a wonderful ‘Impossible Germany’ – a song that encapsulates most of their best attributes and one which allows guitarist Nels Cline to cut loose with a superlative soloMain set done – the band leave to rapturous applause and shoutsThey come back for a great encore – starting with a couple from 1996’s ‘Being There’ and ending with a great version of ‘The Late Greats’. Its the fourth time I have seen Wilco live and it won’t be the last – great musicians, great song writing, wonderful live band
