King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut

“Quite possibly the best small venue in the world” NME – Radio 1 and New York Magazine have similarly lauded King Tut’s and it is rightly a renowned Glasgow institution and it is probably also my favourite venue in the city.

It is an intimate, friendly venue with a good sound system.

From the street go down the steps to get into the venue, go through the bar (if you’re picking up your tickets at the venue get them from the bar staff), and then up some stairs into the upstairs gig room – to your left is another bar and to the right the gig area itself. There are benches on two sides and a knee high stage; opposite the stage is a raised area which houses the sound/mixing desk and sometimes it is possible to stand in this area, or at least the steps leading up to it (offering a good view of the stage).

One thing to be wary of is that people often congregate at the entrance to the main area which creates a log jam even when there is plenty of room in the main area – so if you arrive late and there is a throng there it might be worth negotiating your way through the them.

Location: 272a St Vincent Street, Glasgow G2 5RL
