All is peaceful before the gig – please don’t eat the giant toadstoolsPenelope Isles got the evening off to a great startThis tour was celebrating the 20th anniversary release of The Soft Bulletin – a musical, lyrical, critical and popular breakthrough for the bandThey played (superbly as always) the whole album in order Then followed with encores of ‘There Should Be Unicorns’, ‘Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots, Pt. 1’ and ‘Do You Realize??’Of course, it wouldn’t be a TFL gigs without Wayne crowd surfing in a giant transparent bubble(with a little help from his friends)And now Wayne rides through the crowd in his colourful wings, riding (as you do) a large, glowing unicornIt is not everyday you see a unicorn at a concert – so lets save that for prosperity! And there is a rainbow at the end of the gig! I love The Flaming Lips but I think even a neutral observer would have been blown away by tonight’s spectacle and music and the love of the crowd for the band.
