Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA)

The CCA is central Glasgow’s main art center – come here to experience contemporary art exhibitions (hosting 6 major exhibitions a year), films (it is one of the venues for the annual Glasgow Film Festival), music, literature, spoken word performances, and festivals. In 2015 and 2016 it was named the ‘Best Cultural Venue’ in The Glasgow Awards. The gigs it hosts are often on the more experimental spectrum and so if you like challenging music it is always worth checking out their program.

Gigs are usually hosted in the theatre on the first floor. Go up the stairs and immediately turn right and right again and walk down corridor to the theater (the ‘box office’ is a table at the theater entrance). Gigs can be seated or standing. The space itself is a rather soulless rectangle and when the space does not have many punters the sound can similarly lack soul.
